Quanzhou Normal University is located in Quanzhou.  Quanzhou is one of the three central cities in Fujian Province, one of the first batch of national historical and cultural cities, and also known as the 2014 East Asian Cultural City and the starting point of the ancient Maritime Silk Road. It’s GDP ranks first in Fujian Province for continuously 22 years.

QNU adheres to themotto of “Accumulating Knowledgeand Consummating Personality ”, and strives continuouslyto improve its educational level and strength. It has been selected as the provincial "Double-Top  University", Exemplary Application-oriented University, Master Degree-awarding Cultivation Institution, the national Innovative Entrepreneurial Training Plan University. It’s also the Graduate Student Education Innovation Base and the first batch of "2011 Collaborative Innovation Center" in Fujian Province.

QNU has three campuses,Donghai Campus, Shishan Campus and Jiangnan Campus,totally covering an area of 1.21 km².At present, it consist of 17 secondary colleges, 58 full-time undergraduate majors. There are about 18,000 full-time undergraduates and postgraduates. The faculties and staffs are nearly 1400, among them 4 experts enjoying special allowance from the State Council, 3 national specialists, 1 New Century Outstanding Talent appointed by the Ministry of Education, 47 Minjiang scholars , 190 talents at the provincial and municipal level.

QNU insists on the teaching-centeredposition. In recent years, QNU has won 1 second prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award, 5 grandprizes, 7 first prizes and 14 second prizes of provincial teaching achievements, 1 first prize of the National Young Teachers'Teaching Competition in Colleges and Universities, and nearly 10 national-level projects among which 1 "Excellent Teachers" Training Program and 2 national characteristic majors are selected by the Ministry of Education . QNU adheres to the disciplinary construction as the core, develops 14 provincial disciplines, and actively constructs an applied, distinctive and high-level discipline system.

QNUkeeps on strengtheningthe capacity for scientific research and social service. There are 36 provincial scientific research and innovation platforms. In 2018, QNU won 1 first prize, 2 second prizes and 2 third prizes of Fujian Social Science Achievement Award. QNU focuses on carrying out all-round cooperation with Sinochem Group and PetroChina; offering professional talent classes to AntaGroup and Baihong Group. QNU concentrates on the construction of the attached Second Primary Schooland Zundao Primary School with local government to jointly build high-quality education brands.

QNU emphasizes on cultural heritage and research. The university  has been  granted as Fujian Provincial Excellent Traditional Chinese Culture Education Demonstration Base, selected into the first batch of Chinese Excellent Traditional Culture Inheritance Base by the Ministry of Education as the only university in Fujian Province. The university is the pioneer of Nanyin major at home and abroad. Nanyin’s new works, Feng Qiu Huang (Phoenix Seeking the Mate), has been listed as theNational Stage Art Key Creation Drama by the Ministry of Culture.

QNU gives full play to its advantages and vigorously expands its open education and international cooperation and exchanges. QNU has partnership with more than 60 universities in foreign countries and the area of Taiwan, Hongkong and Macao.To serve The Belt and Road Initiative, QNUoffers international students education and international crew training, recruiting more than 200 foreign students of various types each year. To be committed to Chinese international promotion,QNU has sent nearly 400 international Chinese teacher volunteers and  teachers to teach Chinese and promote Chinese culture overseas. Since 2011, QNU has undertaken various Chinese-learning activities for overseas Chinese students, training more than 1,000 overseas Chinese students. To strengthen Fujian-Taiwan cooperation, QNU carries out the joint training talent projects with Taiwan famous universities, including Fu Jen Catholic University, Lunghwa University of Science and Technology.

In recent years, QNU has followed the important instruction of aiming to build a multidisciplinary university by General Secretary Xi Jinping, put forward the "three-step" development strategy, and raised"the secondary entrepreneurship". Each member of QNU will remain true to the mission firmly of building a multidisciplinary , distinctive and high-level university.
