Academics of Quanzhou Normal University (QNU) have recently been honored with provincial-level awards for their research excellence. According to the Fujian Provincial People’s Government, QNU, as the principal unit, garnered a total of three Fujian Provincial Scientific and Technological Progress Awards, including two Second Class Prizes and one Third Class Prize. The winning projects of QNU cover a wide range of applications, thus showcasing the University’s distinguished capabilities and accomplishments in innovation and technology. Academics of QNU won the award with the project entitled “Technologies for Graphene Heavy-duty Coatings for Marine Engineering Equipment and Their Applications”(Second Class Prize), “Key Technologies for Structural Temperature and Humidity Control Sportswear Fabrics and Their Applications”(Second Class Prize), “Research on Intelligent Numerical Control Diamond Linear Cutter”(Third Class Prize). Researchers from different institutions, such as Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter, Donghhua University, Zhongyuan University of Technology, and industrial entities like T&H Chemicals, Anta Group, Haitian Textile Group, Billion Industrial Holdings Limited have participated in the researches.
In recent years, the university focuses on constructing a scientific research system that is application-oriented, market-led and with the integration of industries, universities and research institutes. It has incessantly endeavored to deepen school-enterprise and school-school cooperation and has promoted the transformation and implementation of scientific and technological outcomes and desired results have been achieved. This award highly approves the works of the research teams in recent years and it is the epitome of how we serve the financial development and it has demonstrated the remarkable effect that QNU has achieved in transforming into an applied university.
It is learned that Fujian Provincial Science and Technology Award was set up by Fujian Provincial People’s Government with the purpose of commending organizations and individuals that have made outstanding contributions to scientific and technological progress. There are four different prizes, including the Significant Scientific and Technological Contribution Award, Provincial Natural Science Award, Provincial Technological Invention Award, and Provincial Scientific and Technological Progress Award. In 2020, the Provincial Scientific and Technological Outcome Transformation Award has been added. In 2019, 192 projects have been awarded the Fujian Provincial Science and Technology Award. Among them 13 projects have been awarded the Provincial Natural Science Awards, 3 have been awarded the Provincial Technological Award, and 176 the Provincial Scientific and Technological Progress Award. In addition, 62 of the awards have been achieved by 14 universities as the principal unit. Compared with other universities in Fujian province, the number of awards achieved by QNU ranks No. 5 and it ranks No. 1 when compared with universities of the same level.
