From August 18th to 20th, the final of the 7th National University Students' Opt-Sci-Tech Competition was held in Qingdao University. The School of Physics and Information Engineering of QNU sent three teams to participate in the competition. “‘Reassuring’ Intelligent Steering Wheel System” designed by Qiu Junfa, Ye Hanbin and Wu Hongda won the first prize. “Machine Vision Based Intelligent Detection System for Defects of Cooling Crystals on the Semiconductor Surface” by Li Zhe, Wei Jiaofen, Lin Yingzhi, and “Intelligent Street Light System – ‘Haze Lamp’”by Feng Rongben, Che Jiayang, Wang Chenghao, both won the second prize. Also it is worth mentioning that the School of Physics and Information Engineering won the Excellent Organization Award.
The National University Students' Opt-Sci-Tech Competition is sponsored by the Chinese Optical Society and the Teaching Guidance Committee of the Ministry of Education for students majoring in electronic information in all colleges and universities. It is an important competition for photoelectricity major in all colleges and universities across the country. It has been playing a crucial role in promoting the reform of higher education and talent training, and motivating the advancement of students' innovation and practice ability.
